Lets just address the main complaint first, price. Yes, it's expensive. All of the good Sony lenses designed for APS-C-format E-mount cameras are expensive. Why? Sony wants to make money of course. While I'm not happy about it, can you blame them?! In my opinion though, using a cheaper Sony mirrorless camera body like the a6500, a6300 (or even cheaper a6000) with expensive glass like the 10-18mm delivers beautiful images that can hang with any full frame camera body and lens combo. The only noticeable difference is the extra few thousand dollars you will have in your bank account to go do fun shit 😊.

While it's labeled as a 10-18mm it technically provides a 15-27mm equivalent zoom range compared to a full frame camera like the a7 series. It has built in OSS (Optical SteadyShot) image stabilization to allow for sharper shots and less blur when shooting by hand at slower speeds. It  has an aperture range of f/4 to f/22. The 10-18mm has one extra-low dispersion glass element designed to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve image quality. It has 3 aspherical elements to help reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations.

The autofocus on this thing is pretty dope. In fact the autofocus on the crop sensor mirrorless Sony's is what sold me on them overall. The 10-18mm has as internal focus mechanism that makes it a faster and more responsive autofocus than any other wide angle E mount lens I've used. It has a rounded seven-blade diaphragm that makes that bokeh look phenomal when you want to focus on something up close.

I've had the Sony E Mount 10-18mm since I bought my first Sony camera. It was the perfect second lens to go with my a6000 for shooting the stuff I like (landscapes, products, cityscapes, etc). While I've bought and sold several other E Mount wide lenses (Rokinon 14mm & Sony 35mm) this one has remained in my kit the whole time. It serves dual purposes as both my fisheye and my wide angle lens. Every trip I take whether backpacking, skateboarding, hiking or just traveling, this lens goes with me. I highly recommend it.
